Coon Valley Memorial Day 2026
The Village of Coon Valley will observe Memorial Day with a parade and program on Monday May 25th.
The day will begin with the Honor Guard of the Coon Valley American Legion Post 116 conducting military rites at 7 community cemeteries. The schedule will be:
Hellwig Cemetery at 7:15am
Koethe Cemetery at 7:30am
Trinity Church Cemetery in Mormon Coulee at 7:45am
St. Joseph Ridge Catholic Church Cemetery at 8:15am
North Ridge Catholic Church Cemetery at 8:30am
Esofea Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery at 9:30am
Coon Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery at 10:00am
There will be a Parade beginning at 10:30 am from the Coon Valley Post Office continuing down Central Avenue to the Coon Creek Veterans Memorial. Participating in the Parade will be local veterans and members of the Coon Valley American Legion Family, Village President, 2026 Citizen of the Year, The Westby High School and Jr. High Bands.
The program will be at the Veterans Memorial following the Parade with local dignitaries and the high school band participating. Pastor Kevin Lisk of the St. Peters Lutheran Church will give the invocation and benediction, and the Coon Valley American Legion Post 116 Honor Guard will present the final salute with Charles Nelson and Rolv Ihle playing Taps. Middle school students, Abigail Frydenlund will recite the Gettysburg Address and Connor Haakenson will read In Flanders’ Field.
Main speaker for the program will be Denise Rohan of Verona WI, past National Commander of The American Legion. (Bio is attached)
Following the program, The Auxiliary Unit 116 will be serving lunch in the Legion Hall.
The public is encouraged to attend, and is reminded to bring lawn chairs as there is limited seating available at the program site.
